We believe you can be adventurous at any age or skill level and should still be able to look good while living your dream.
Our team are passionate surfers, travellers and outdoor sports enthusiasts based in Australia and the U.S. We are constantly looking for ways to simplify an active lifestyle and created this company to develop a line of custom formulated personal care products to meet the needs of the global surf, sport and travel community.
Our first product TapaReef Sunscreen Remover facial towelettes was launched in October 2015. These facial wipes were specifically developed to remove zinc and water resistant sunscreen after swimming, surfing or other water sports. The biodegradable and compostable towelettes are manufactured in the U.S. from all natural ingredients that contain fruit extracts, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories designed for after-sun skin care.
We searched for a manufacturer with strong environmental credentials and were thrilled to partner with a company that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FCA) and Rainforest Alliance (RA) to produce the 100% biodegradable and compostable cloth for the towelettes from renewable cellulose grown in responsibly managed forests. Clean and renewable solar provides 86% of the power used in the manufacturing facility and these wipes are made with a fraction of the water used in normal wipes, reducing water usage and the overall shipping weight and impact.
The TapaReef Pre and Post Swim Hair Care range has been more than two years in creation; involving collaboration with a cosmetic chemist, manufacturer and packaging supplier to develop a proprietary formula using natural ingredients with low environmental impact to protect and restore hair both before and after going in the ocean or pool.
Baobab protein is the key ingredient of the TapaReef haircare line. This unique anti-aging treatment sustainably sourced from the seed of the iconic African Baobab “tree of life” provides intense protection from UV-stress & heat, helps prolong color and keratin treatments and deeply nourishes hair for greater manageability and reduced breakage during wet combing. The products are manufactured in Australia and are free of sulphates, parabens, PEGs and silicone.
TapaReef donates 1% of sales to 1% For The Planet, a global network of businesses, nonprofits and individuals working together for a healthy planet. The non-profit organisation started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Craig Mathews (founder of Blue Ribbon Flies) to date has given over $150 Million dollars back to the environment by connecting dollars with doers to help create partnerships that protect the planet.
